On Tap On York in Ottawa submitted Description
Let the Music Move You
On Tap plays the latest Top 40 hits as well as some hip hop and dance music. The large wood dance floor (easy on the feet) is structured so that people can shake their booty on top of risers and speakers and even on the bar if they want to, creating a “see and be seen” atmosphere. This is a large club: when both patios are open, the capacity is nearly 1,000 people. Dress code is casual but neat—jeans and tees are the norm, but bandannas, wristbands, and sports jerseys are frowned upon.
Relax to the Max
On Tap is divided into several areas, including the dance floor and a main bar area featuring exposed brick walls, frosted glass sconces and pendant lamps, dark wood panelling and brown pleather booths. This part of the club offers a more social place to chill out over drinks or shoot some pool at one of the tables. The two patios—one out front on York, one in back facing George Street—are the place to cool off and get some air after working up a sweat on the dance floor. Smoking is permitted on both patios.
Drink Up
Five bars, including one on each patio, serve up drinks priced for student budgets three nights a week. The fully stocked bars offer shooters, mixed drinks, coolers and bottled beer.
