Pier 21 Pub in Ottawa submitted Description
Historic Port Moves into Historic Market
Pier 21 is named after the famous ocean port in Halifax, Nova Scotia. During operation as a passenger terminal for trans-Atlantic ocean liners from 1928 to 1971, Pier 21 was known as the “Gateway to Canada.” It was the departure point for Canadian troops during World War II. Pier 21 recreates that special feeling of the historic Halifax port in Ottawa’s historic Byward Market.
Nothing without the Music
The Pier 21 stage hosts the best in east coast music Thursday through Saturday evenings featuring leading east coast musicians to bring both locals and those from out east together in a celebration of the Maritime's rich musical heritage. Popular east coast acts like Signal Hill, Shameless and Wreck House have helped make Pier 21 a popular spot for many.
